Astrid Bernth exhibits puppets in Café Cappuccio.
The cozy Café Cappuccio is a somewhat new Italian café in Silkeborg. Besides being a café, it doubles as an exhibit venue for local artists. Since its opening there have been exhibits of several artists, including ones with a connection to Festival of Wonder. The café is exhibit and meeting place for theatre interested guests during the festival.
Astrid Bernth was born in Switzerland, educated at the Arts and Crafts School in Basel, but has lived most of her life in Denmark.
From September 1 – November 11, 2019 she will exhibit her expressive puppets in the Café. Astrid describes her puppets: ‘In recent years I have mostly carved marionettes or sculptures in Lind wood. Inspiration may be a person I notice in a certain situation. The image crawls inside, shows itself and something has to be created.’
